Garmin Announces Slimline Radio Update

Garmin is pleased to announce a new software update for slimline radios for the certified aviation market. With software update v2.22, the GTR 205 can serve as an all-in-one radio and stereo intercom. A two-place intercom and speaker output allows easy communication between the pilot and passenger. The GTR 205 update also includes Bluetooth® functionality for phone calls and media entertainment. Stream music from your personal electronic device via Bluetooth® and see the song and artist on the GTR 205 display. Music playback controls allow pilots to play, pause, skip or repeat tracks without needing to access their device. Pilots can receive incoming calls, view phone numbers, end calls, and see their connected device’s signal strength and battery life right on the GTR 205 display.

3D audio processing makes it seem like select audio sources are coming from a unique location or seat position. Active and standby frequencies are separated in the headset making it easier for the pilot to differentiate between sources. For easy intercom use, auto squelch will automatically sense noise level in the cockpit and adjust the microphone accordingly. Equalizer and Bass Boost settings on the radio also allow for an even more customized listening experience. The radios include up to four AUX inputs that can now be used for audio alerts and more, with two capable of optional stereo pairing.

Additionally, software v2.22 adds the ability for GNC 215 to serve as a mono two-place intercom by wiring two headsets in parallel using the COM Audio Out. Please note, this functionality is similar to GNC 255 – therefore stereo audio, 3D audio, Bluetooth and individual pilot/co-pilot volume control is not available.
