Aviation's Panel Mount Avionics Installation Leader

The panel-mount GTR 205x COMM radio has the same feature set as the GTR 205 radio, plus new intercom and audio features. The 1.35-inch GTR 205x matches the bezel height of previous-generation radios, enabling easier upgrades and diverse installation opportunities in space-constrained instrument panels.

New features for experimental radios

The GTR 205x serves as an all-in-one radio and stereo intercom. A two-place intercom and speaker output allows easy communication between the pilot and passenger.

The GTR 205x includes Bluetooth® functionality for phone calls and media entertainment. Stream music from your personal electronic device via Bluetooth and see the song and artist on the GTR 205x display. Music playback controls allow a pilot to play, pause, skip or repeat tracks without needing to access their device. Pilots can receive incoming calls, view phone numbers, end calls, and see their device’s signal strength and battery life right on the GTR 205x display.

Additionally, 3D audio processing creates the illusion that each audio source is coming from a unique location or seat position by transmitting different responses in each ear. Active and standby frequencies are separated in the headset making it easier for the pilot to differentiate between sources. For easy intercom use, auto squelch will automatically sense noise level in the cockpit and adjust the microphone accordingly.

The radio includes up to four AUX inputs that can be used for audio alerts and more, with two capable of optional stereo pairing. Additionally, Equalizer and Bass Boost settings on the radio allow for an even more customized listening experience.

COMM radio features

The advanced communication capabilities of the GTR 205x is optimized for experimental aircraft. The VHF COMM radio comes standard with 10 watts of power, and a 16-watt option is also available for the panel-mount version. The GTR 205x features a sunlight-readable color LCD display, indicating the currently tuned active and standby frequencies. Pilots can monitor a standby COMM frequency while tuned to the active ATC frequency, allowing them to perform various tasks such as listening to ATIS transmissions.

The worldwide frequency database makes it convenient to find frequencies by searching an airport identifier. Frequency memory and instant recall make tuning to the most often or recently used frequencies quick and efficient, plus holding down the volume knob will quick-tune to the emergency channel 121.5. To assist with approaches, holds or other assigned maneuvers, the GTR 205x includes a built-in timer, with the option to count up or count down.
