The ability to have an ultra small PLB in your pocket adds another dimension to safety while complementing the benefits of an aircraft’s onboard fixed Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) distress beacon.
The XS-4 GPS complies with international standards and meets US and EU approvals. It operates on the global COSPAS SARSAT 406MHz search and rescue satellite communication system. The system is supported by international government search and rescue authorities around the world, so a call for help will be acted upon and fast. Moreover, the XS-4 GPS is subscription free.
This model features built-in GPS for additional pinpoint location, further speeding up time of recovery. It transmits two signals simultaneously: one transmits to the global 406 MHz satellite system and the other, 121.5MHz, is a homing signal designed to facilitate the local retrieval response process. Registration enables the PLB to transmit a unique identification signal providing important ID information about the pilot.
The bright yellow PLBs are potential life savers, and can be activated very simply if an aircraft gets into difficulty on land or at sea.
